Aikikai’s Grading system is regulated by the Hombu Dojo.
Gradings at Aikikai Bali are twice per year, at the Headquarters, Samurai Dojo; all Bali Aikikai Aikido students attend the gradings together. The amount of practice necessary between gradings is set to make one grading every six months easily possible for any student; the content of the gradings is a selection of basic techniques, starting from the most basic and simple, and adding to them each grading, up to the most difficult to master at the highest levels. First  gradings (5th Kyu) take about 15 - 20 minutes only; the most advanced (1st Kyu) can take up to 1 hour
